Position Overview:

The Optometrist plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive eye care services to patients. This position involves evaluating patients' vision, diagnosing ocular conditions, and prescribing suitable treatments while ensuring adherence to established clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients seeking eye care, accurately diagnosing visual impairments and prescribing necessary treatments, while coordinating referrals for specialized care when required.
  2. Maintain precise documentation of patient encounters in optometry records, ensuring all details regarding the visit, diagnosis, and treatment are clearly recorded. Complete all necessary forms and documentation as mandated by the organization.
  3. Collaborate with the Optometry Director to oversee the operations of the optometry practice and dispensary, contributing to quality assurance and staff supervision.
  4. Provide education to patients regarding eye health and the significance of regular eye examinations in preventing ocular diseases.
  5. Evaluate community needs related to optometry and assist in the development of programs or resources to meet these needs as necessary.
  6. Support the ongoing training and development of optometry staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide high-quality care.
  7. Engage in strategic planning for the Optometry Department, including the establishment of goals and objectives to enhance service delivery.
  8. Facilitate the integration of optometry services with other healthcare programs within the organization to optimize patient care.
  9. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies related to optometry practice, clinical care, and patient confidentiality.
  10. Participate in recruitment and retention initiatives to attract and maintain skilled optometry professionals.
  11. Stay informed about advancements in optometry techniques and practices to provide the best care possible.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promptly addressing any maintenance or repair needs.
  13. Adhere to the organization's standards for patient experience, ensuring respectful and professional interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  14. Exhibit professional communication skills in all interactions.
  15. Comply with regulatory standards such as OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA to protect patient information and uphold professional integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an accredited U.S. Optometry School.
  2. Possession of a valid California State license to practice Optometry.
  3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  4. Valid DEA certificate.
  5. Exemplary professionalism in all patient interactions.
  6. Flexibility to accommodate varying work schedules and willingness to work across multiple locations.
  7. Possession of personal transportation, a valid California Driver's License, and current automobile insurance.
  8. Proven ability to deliver exceptional patient experiences, demonstrating initiative and exceeding expectations in all patient interactions.
