Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ventilator Patient Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a set number of ALS and/or Pediatric ventilation patients within a defined territory, serving as the primary contact for patient, caregiver, and other entities involved in the patient's ventilation care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Available for on-call assignments as needed, providing phone consultations during non-business hours.
  • Maintain continuing education and licensure requirements for performance of job responsibilities and state licensure or certification.
  • Document all services provided and work performed in accordance with Rotech's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure records and workspace are organized, safe, clean, and neat.
  • Support orientation and training of other personnel at the direction of the Manager.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by state licensure law or by the Manager.
  • Patient assessment and education.
  • Set up and monitor highly technical respiratory equipment.
Requirements

  • Background investigation and drug screen (when applicable).
  • Valid driver's license in the state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable).
  • Completion of an accredited program/degree in respiratory care or nursing (RN) may be acceptable depending on state licensure laws.
  • Credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) are preferred but other medical credentials may be acceptable.
  • Home respiratory care experience or equivalent hospital experience is preferred.
  • Pediatric and/or ALS Ventilation experience is required.
  • Proficient in the use of equipment download software (Care Orchestrator, Astral, etc.).
Skills and Abilities

  • Deductive problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication in English with physicians, location employees, and patients.
  • Interpretation of instructions in various communication mediums.
  • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME).
  • Maintaining confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Multi-tasking and attention to detail.
  • Reading and interpreting written directions and/or instructions in English.
  • Reviewing patient charts and discerning compliance with Rotech's policies and procedures.
  • Self-motivation, organization, time-management, and deductive problem-solving skills.
  • Sense of urgency and responsiveness to physicians, location employees, and patients.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.
Physical Demands

  • Lifting and carrying office equipment.
  • Close vision to small print on computer and/or tablet and paperwork.
  • Contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
  • Occasional lifting and transporting of patient equipment.
  • Sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening.
