Phlebotomy Specialist

At CSL Plasma, we are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors.
Key Responsibilities- Donor Set-up and Monitoring: In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), you will perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring, and donor disconnect.
- Venipuncture and Vein Evaluation: You will perform venipuncture on donors to begin the pheresis process, evaluating vein performance to identify possible problems and making necessary corrections to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.
- Donor Education and Support: You will educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, explaining the screening process, health screening tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and any other information pertinent to the donor.
- Incident Reporting and Equipment Maintenance: You will use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events. You will also perform calibrations and verify that maintenance has been performed as outlined in SOPs.
- Donor Flow Management and Safety: You will monitor donor flow on the donor floor to assure continuous turnover, alerting Group Leaders or Supervisors of donor flow issues. You will also maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred
- Ability to complete routine forms or conduct routine oral communications
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions
