Job Summary

The Hospital Laboratory Technician will provide clinical administrative and laboratory technical support to the Department of Anatomic Pathology. Key responsibilities include specimen accessioning, processing, slide staining, and cell block preparation, as well as general lab support duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical administrative support, including send out testing and consultation requests, assembling case materials, and working in laboratory information systems.
  • Perform technical responsibilities, including specimen accessioning, processing, slide staining, and cell block preparation.
  • Support laboratory workflows, including phone and email support.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
Requirements
  • Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science, or two years of college courses in the natural sciences plus two years of applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Interpersonal skills when dealing with department staff and customers.
  • Ability to set priorities according to situation and perform all work with thoroughness, efficiency, and minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ability to adapt to new computer and information systems.
