Social Services Specialist Job Description

At Sandia Resort & Casino, we are seeking a highly skilled Social Services Specialist to join our team. As a Social Services Specialist, you will be responsible for providing psycho-social services to clients, including conducting risk and safety assessments, psychosocial and mental health assessments, and strengths and needs assessments. You will also provide culturally responsive psycho-social case management services to health center clients in accordance with all policies, programs, funding, and traditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk and safety assessments, psychosocial and mental health assessments, and strengths and needs assessments to determine psycho-social service needs of clients.
  • Provide culturally responsive psycho-social case management services to health center clients in accordance with all policies, programs, funding, and traditions.
  • Work in an integrated care environment providing psycho-social case management to behavioral health and primary care clinician's clients.
  • Create comprehensive case management plans for clients.
  • Coordinate investigations of allegations of abuse and/or neglect of children, elders, and vulnerable adults.
  • Coordinate a multi-disciplinary response team that includes law enforcement, the courts, and BIA social services to address adult and child welfare related issues.
  • Provide parenting classes.
  • Work with tribal and other courts to ensure adherence to the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).
  • Coordinate kinship care program.
  • Facilitate parent/child/relative visitation.
  • May be required to testify in court to present recommendations of the Social Services Team.
  • Plan and Coordinate the Annual Child Abuse Prevention Fair and provide guidance and technical assistance to the fair's organizing committee.
  • Develop and implement psycho-social prevention groups and activities.
  • Implement culturally relevant prevention, intervention, and postvention services that reduce risk and increase protective factors for community members as appropriate.
  • Conduct social service-related outreach, including psycho-educational presentations to children, youth, adults, and elders, in community and clinical settings.
  • Perform counseling and crisis intervention as necessary, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, and providing individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy.
  • Maintain record of counseling and social work services provided by documenting services provided in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Native American healthcare setting.

License/Certifications/Registrations:

  • Valid and Current New Mexico LISW or LCSW License.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver's License.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work is typically performed indoors.
  • Flexible schedule to allow for at least one evening per week to see clients and occasional weekend commitments.
  • Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke; diseases; cuts bruises, burns, common cold, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels.
