Job Title: Senior FPGA Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior FPGA Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of FPGA-based solutions for our healthcare sensor systems.

As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, radar systems engineers, software developers, and data scientists to develop and implement robust FPGA-based systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement FPGA architectures to efficiently process radar data and perform digital signal processing tasks.
  • Develop and optimize FPGA designs to accelerate ML algorithms and enhance system performance.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system-level requirements and interface specifications.
  • Work closely with software developers to integrate FPGA designs into larger system frameworks.
  • Debug and resolve issues related to FPGA designs, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct thorough testing and verification of FPGA designs, employing best practices and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in FPGA design, development, and implementation using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Hands-on experience in hardware-software integration and system testing, including working directly with standard lab equipment.
  • Embedded HW & SW integration experience in bare-metal or real-time operating system environments.
  • Working knowledge of standard communication interfaces (SPI, UART, Ethernet, I2C, USB).
  • Experience aiding in the bring-up of custom PCBs.
  • Solid understanding of high-speed digital design principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with real-time data processing and optimization techniques.
Preferred Skills
  • C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Experience designing fixed-point implementations targeting FPGAs.
  • Proficiency in radar signal processing techniques, DSP algorithms, and ML.
  • Matlab/Simulink/Octave or similar tool knowledge.
  • Programming skill set with scripting languages (e.g. Python, TCL, Perl, etc.).
Personal Qualities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build camaraderie and work effectively on difficult goals with a broad range of business and technical collaborators.
  • Self-awareness to know your own superpower and the humility to permit others to exercise theirs on a team of accomplished specialists.
  • Respect and empathy to recognize and support the goals of the company, your team, and colleagues in ways that build trust for people to feel safe to disagree and commit.
  • A work ethic that doesn't quit, recognizing that time-to-market is often the only thing that separates teams that win from those that don't.
  • Tenacity and a dogged determination to never give up.
  • Innate hunger to constantly do better and evolve both your work product and yourself.
  • The courage to move fast, break things, and ship products that people use.
  • Exceptional communication skills characterized by meticulous attention to detail and precision in verbal and written expression.
Education and Experience
  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Real-world work experience in relevant roles in a commercial setting.
  • Ideally, full life cycle experience with an electronics product that has shipped and achieved meaningful commercial success.

We offer a fun, supportive culture that encourages innovation and failing fast. Our benefits include a competitive base salary with additional performance-based pay, 100% medical, dental, and vision benefits, and other perks such as unlimited paid time off.
