Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Support Specialist to join our team at MedStar Health. As a key member of our patient-centered care team, you will provide administrative support and direct bedside care to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic, routine, and specialized tasks in assigned department, under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Meet patients' needs, including providing baths, linen changes, bedpans, water pitchers, and assisting with ambulation, positioning, elimination, personal hygiene, and activities of daily living.
  • Transport patients and transfer them between stretcher and bed and bed to chair.
  • Provide nourishments as requested and authorized by orders, including distribution and collection of meal trays as needed.
  • Participate in shift report, report observations, unusual findings to RN, and maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each patient in the delivery of services to them.
  • Observe, monitor, and report changes in patient's condition, symptom, reactions, or behavior as appropriate.
  • Round on all assigned patients based on established standards and document vital signs promptly and accurately.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Patient Care Technician course preferred.
  • Experience working as a patient care technician/nursing tech in a hospital setting preferred.
  • CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant licensure from the Maryland Board of Nursing required.
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required.
