Position Summary:

The Fitness Attendant plays a vital role in delivering an outstanding exercise environment for all members and guests at Briar Club. This position is tasked with managing the Fitness Center, ensuring cleanliness, friendliness, and operational excellence throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist all members and guests with a positive and helpful attitude.
  • Respond to phone inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Monitor all exercise areas to guarantee safety for all users.
  • Enforce club policies and report any issues to the Director of Fitness & Wellness.
  • Maintain cleanliness by disinfecting, dusting, and polishing all fitness equipment in the Fitness Center.
  • Assist in the upkeep of the Wellness Center and Sport Court as needed.
  • Organize and rearrange fitness equipment as required.
  • Perform cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
  • Restock supplies in the refrigerator and fruit bowl, and manage inventory for sales items.
  • Engage with members and staff through phone and email communications.
  • Address member inquiries and resolve complaints effectively.
  • Demonstrate proper equipment usage to members and guests, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Inspect fitness equipment, diagnose issues, and report to the supervisor or maintenance team.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

Health and Safety Protocols:

  • Adhere to hygiene practices before reporting to work and when returning to the workstation, including handwashing and minimizing physical contact.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment as directed by management.

Additional Duties:

  • Learn and implement emergency protocols for medical situations and fire evacuations.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required; some college experience preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
  • Prior experience in a Fitness Attendant role is preferred.
  • General knowledge of exercise equipment operation and maintenance is essential.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands for handling equipment, and reaches with arms. The role may involve sitting for extended periods while working on a computer.

Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The employee must frequently lift or move weights ranging from 25-35 pounds and occasionally up to 40-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
