The Pharmacy Clinical Expert is responsible for ensuring the availability of safe, effective, and economical medication therapies for patients, adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
This role includes taking on staffing duties as a Pharmacist to maintain seamless operations within the department. You will provide essential education and information regarding pharmaceutical care and medication therapies to both patients and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support quality improvement initiatives through data management and analysis.
- Facilitate the development and execution of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary modifications, and critical pathways.
- Collaborate with medical staff to identify, resolve, and communicate cost-effective medication use issues.
- Offer clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners and patients, recommending suitable and economical therapeutic alternatives.
- Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, adverse reactions, and appropriateness of drug/dose.
- Prepare and present drug reviews, medication use evaluation criteria, antibiotic sensitivity reports, adverse drug reaction summaries, and pharmacy intervention reports to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Five (5) years of clinical oncology experience.
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
- Completion of PGY1/PGY2 Oncology residency is mandatory.
- Board certification as an Oncology Pharmacist or certification to be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
