Job Title: Registered Nurse

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals with developmental disabilities across New York City and Long Island.

Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse with Little Flower, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to our clients. Under general supervision, you will perform work in accordance with professional practices, special orders from doctors, and established rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medication and nursing treatment as prescribed by physicians;
  • Monitor patient reactions to medications and treatments;
  • Assist in clinic work, including obtaining medical histories and providing advice to residential personnel;
  • Apply dressings, give inoculations, and provide emergency treatment for illnesses and injuries;
  • Provide bedside care for children confined to the Health and Wellness Center or Cottage;
  • Oversee arrangements for visits to doctor's offices and hospitals;
  • Write reports and maintain charts on patient condition and progress.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques, as well as their relation to medical practice;
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, sanitation, and personal hygiene;
  • Knowledge of communicable diseases and methods of containment;
  • Skill in applying professional nursing techniques and practices;
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions of a technical and professional nature in exact detail;
  • Ability to recognize and interpret symptoms;
  • Ability to instruct other Agency personnel on patient care;
  • Ability to administer treatment to patients while dealing with them in a sympathetic and tactful manner.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current New York State Nurse License;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
