About the Position:
The Colville Tribes is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual to serve as a School Board Member. As a member of the Board of Directors, you will play a critical role in planning and directing all aspects of Paschal Sherman Indian School's operations and setting policy to ensure students have ample opportunity to achieve their individual and collective learning goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the Tribal Community: Learn about the concerns and aspirations of all segments of the community and find ways to accommodate them to ensure Paschal Sherman Indian School accurately responds to the needs of the community.
- Adopt Policy: Develop and implement policies that guide Paschal Sherman Indian School towards compliance with Tribal law, are not inconsistent with applicable federal, tribal, and state requirements, and assist the advancement of uniquely Indian goals, culture, history, and language.
- Monitor Operations: Review school operations to assure compliance with Board policy.
- Control Disputes: Resolve complaints or grievances brought by students, staff, or patrons.
- Hire, Supervise, and Evaluate the Superintendent: Ensure the effective leadership of Paschal Sherman Indian School.
- Set Vision, Mission, and Strategic Goals: Establish a clear direction for the district.
- Establish and Oversee the Budget: Ensure the financial stability and success of Paschal Sherman Indian School.
- Serve as Community Representatives: Represent the interests of the community and ensure the district's progress towards its goals.
- Monitor Progress: Track the district's progress towards its established goals.
Requirements:
- Be at least 25 years of age.
- Be an enrolled member of the Colville Confederated Tribes.
- Not be employed by Paschal Sherman Indian School.
- Not be an immediate family member or reside in the same home as a Paschal Sherman Indian School employee.
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check.
