Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled Plumber to join our team at the State of Michigan. As a Plumber, you will be responsible for participating in and overseeing plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance projects on state properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and oversee plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance projects on state properties.
  • Function as a crew leader, overseeing the work of lower-level Plumbers, prisoners, and others.
  • Perform journey-level plumbing assignments.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure successful project completion.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of experience in the plumbing trade, including one year equivalent to a Plumber E9 in State service.
  • Completion of a vocational training program in plumbing that includes commercial or industrial level instruction may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades people.
  • Ability to work in a secured area of the prison with 50% or more prisoner contact and/or supervision.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.
  • Journey plumber's license issued by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth.
