About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join the Northeast Georgia Health System as a Nurse Educator, where you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of education programs for nursing staff. As a Nurse Educator, you will be responsible for coordinating, elevating, and resolving problems and conflicts as they occur, providing continuing education both formally and informally, and being accountable for Clinical Staff development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care.
  • Perform and document assessments and make recommendations regarding the nursing care of patients with complex and/or special needs.
  • Promote effective discharge planning through collaboration with other disciplines and Case Management.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients/families, physicians, and other healthcare members.
  • Assist and monitor the development, implementation, and compliance of bundles to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of patient response to nursing treatment and recommend continuation or modification of prescribed plan of care.
  • Assess the learning needs of patients and families; provide teaching as indicated.
  • Participate in appropriate hospital and community committees and activities to assure relevant and accurate information is communicated.
  • Utilize clinical expertise in assisting nursing staff, students, and/or orientees with difficult or unusual procedures.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care conferences, interdisciplinary conferences, and staff development programs given by staff.
  • Conduct staff development programs frequently, which includes unit-specific infection control information.
  • Evaluate the technical skills of staff nurses utilizing the skills checklist and provide feedback to unit leadership for performance reviews.
  • Support quality assurance activities as demonstrated by compliance with established PI standards/program and assistance with monitoring or conducting chart review.
  • Assess the number and skill level of personnel needed to provide quality patient care utilizing patient classification, and make staff assignments based on scope of practice, patient acuity, infection control measures, and unit-specific modality of care.
  • Monitor shift personnel for compliance with established unit routines, nursing, and patient care standards.
  • Assist with orientation of new personnel; instructing and supervising delivery of care as required.
Requirements
  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. Professional certification in either a clinical or education specialty.
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of 3 years RN experience. Relevant clinical experience for specific unit.
  • Other: Professional organization membership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred Licensure or other certifications: Certified in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC).
  • Preferred Educational Requirements: A Master's Degree (Nursing or other if possessing a BSN).
  • Preferred Experience: Previous staff development and education experience.
  • Other: Membership in Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD).
