Job Title: Senior HVAC Service Technician

At MSS Solutions, LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HVAC Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our commercial HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior HVAC technicians in performing routine maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance contracts to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex HVAC issues, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance, including replacing belts and filters, and identify anomalies in HVAC equipment.
  • Log HVAC equipment data, including refrigerant circuit, electrical circuit, and equipment condition.
  • Ability to braze, leak check, and evacuate refrigerant systems.
  • Understand commercial DX equipment, intake/exhaust fans, split systems, heat pumps, water source heat pumps, min-splits, electric motor controls, and other related systems.
  • Communicate effectively with team leads, coordination staff, sales staff, and customers.
  • Complete equipment log sheets for project managers and upload them into the database.
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal call-backs.
  • Be responsive to supervisors and dispatchers.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Abide by basic safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company.
Requirements:
  • Universal EPA certification.
  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex high and low-voltage electrical systems and read wiring schematics.
  • Thorough understanding of various equipment, including large unitary packaged equipment, SWUD units, VRF, basic air-cooled chillers, semi-hermetic compressors, dehumidification equipment, complex specialty equipment, air handlers, simple boilers, cooling towers, water pumps, valves, actuators, and VFDs.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all components of the above equipment.
  • Complete understanding of sequence of operation and control strategies for the above equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of airflow for variable air volume systems, including duct design and control strategy.
  • Understanding of DDC control components and pneumatic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding basic refrigerant cycle, various heating components, and air distribution systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to customers in laymen's terms.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
  • Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and working high exposed places.
