Key Responsibilities:

Core Duties:

Conduct comprehensive evaluations for students suspected of having disabilities or those enrolled in special education, focusing on speech, voice, language, and oral motor capabilities.

Deliver individualized and group speech and language interventions to qualified students with disabilities.

Provide expert consultation to educators and families regarding speech and language services, including the implementation of augmentative communication systems tailored to the specific needs of students.

Formulate and document annual objectives and short-term instructional goals for students on the caseload.
Participate actively in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings as required.
Maintain accurate records, written assessments, and other necessary documentation for students on the caseload.
Collaborate with instructional and support staff to identify students who may benefit from speech and language services.

Work in partnership with educational staff and families to connect eligible students with external agencies and community resources.

Oversee the procurement and upkeep of materials and equipment necessary for speech and language services.
Provide training and resources to staff to facilitate the integration of language development within everyday classroom activities.
Travel between assigned educational facilities as needed.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:


A Master's degree in speech and language pathology is required, or a valid Michigan Teacher's Certificate with full endorsement in Speech & Language Impairment (SB) is necessary.

A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is preferred but not mandatory.

Professional Experience:
Experience working with students with significant disabilities and familiarity with augmentative communication systems is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:
Ability to engage effectively with individuals and groups.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proven initiative and understanding in collaborating with students, staff, and families.
Demonstrated physical and mental capacity to meet the demands of the role.
Ability to make informed decisions in alignment with district policies and procedures with minimal oversight.

Additional Requirements:
Must hold a valid license in Speech-Language Pathology from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Board of Speech-Language Pathology.


Residency within a 60-mile radius of the district's borders is required; preference will be given to candidates residing within the City of Flint.
