Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Crime Analyst to join our Real-Time Crime Center team at the City of High Point, NC. As a Crime Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting law enforcement efforts by conducting open-source internet investigations, managing databases, and analyzing data to identify crime patterns and trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Open-Source Internet Investigations: Utilize various online resources to gather information and conduct research to support law enforcement efforts.
  • Manage Databases and Software: Maintain and update databases and software used in the Real-Time Crime Center to ensure accurate and efficient data analysis.
  • Analyze Data and Identify Trends: Use statistical analysis and data visualization techniques to identify patterns and trends in crime data, and provide recommendations to law enforcement agencies.
  • Communicate with Law Enforcement Agencies: Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to provide timely and accurate information to support their investigations and operations.
  • Develop and Maintain Reports: Create and maintain reports on crime trends, patterns, and statistics to support law enforcement efforts and inform policy decisions.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in crime analysis, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Law Enforcement Databases: Experience using law enforcement databases and technology, such as Video Management systems, License Plate Readers, and Electronic Monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of Social Media: Knowledge of social media platforms and online research techniques.
  • GIS Experience: Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data visualization tools.
