Nurse Practitioner

Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner for a 6-month contract. The target start date is October 1, 2024.
Job Summary:The Neurological Surgical division is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing, approximately 2 or more years of clinical experience as an NP in a physician practice or hospital setting, and be certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Responsibilities:- Provide patient care on an inpatient and/or outpatient service.
- Establish priorities for nursing care through patient assessment and develop nursing care plans.
- Prepare equipment and assist providers during examination, testing, and treatment of patients as needed.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary health care services and arrange diagnostic tests as ordered by physicians.
- Perform inpatient diagnostic testing, therapeutic, and interventional procedures in conjunction with physicians.
- Triage patient inquiries and communicate test results.
- Administer appropriate injections and medications as ordered by medical providers.
- Educate patients and staff on pharmacological/drug effects and protocol requirements.
- Record medical information within the patient's electronic medical record.
- Participate in safety programs and orientation of new staff.
- Assist in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
- Ensure infection control compliance within the practice and quality assurance in all aspects of patient care.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and/or reagents.
- Order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized.
- Attend workshops, seminars, and/or conferences to keep abreast of standards and best practices within the field.
- Disseminate information to colleagues and/or staff.
- Assess patient eligibility and review patient medical history for inclusion in clinical studies.
- Manage the care of selected patients using protocols agreed upon by medical/nursing personnel.
- Prescribe and adjust medications.
- Make judgments about the use of pharmaceutical agents as standard treatments in diagnosed conditions.
- Review and complete protocol history sheets, flow sheets, study follow-up reports, and patient evaluation forms.
- Prepare and amend IRB protocols, consent forms, and research documents.
- For surgical procedures, gather, complete, and deliver all pre-operative requirements required for surgery.
- Review discharge summaries and operative notes for accuracy.
- Master's of Science Degree in Nursing.
- Approximately 2 or more years of clinical experience as an NP in a physician practice or hospital setting.
- Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- NYS Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and current NP registration.
- NYS Registered Professional Nurse license and current RN registration.
- Applicable National Board Certification (such as ANCC, PNCB, etc).
- Current BLS (must be issued by American Heart Association).
- Infection Control Certificate.
- Current Narcotics DEA registration certificate.
