Position Summary:

The Retail Operations Supervisor will serve as a pivotal leader on the sales floor, acting as the right hand to the Store Manager. This role demands excellence in supervisory duties and inventory management. You will be a key representative of Dover Saddlery, ensuring a positive experience for both customers and team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome customers and deliver an outstanding service experience.
  • Manage the sales floor to guarantee total customer satisfaction.
  • Guide and mentor staff to uphold high service standards.
  • Address inquiries, recommend promotional items, and share product knowledge.
  • Handle transactions accurately, including cash, checks, and credit card payments.
  • Process customer returns with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Assist in managing merchandise shipments.
  • Support store maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Effectively open and close the store, which includes:
    • Reconciling cash registers.
    • Completing necessary daily paperwork.
    • Managing security systems.
    • Safeguarding cash and checks.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are met on the sales floor while guiding retail staff.
  • Engage in basic inventory management, including processing incoming shipments and maintaining an organized sales area.
  • Achieve weekly sales targets.
  • Inspire and motivate the sales team.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels through efficient scheduling.
  • Design and maintain visually appealing merchandise displays.
  • Provide advanced training in product knowledge and sales techniques for team members.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Enhance store profitability by boosting sales, managing labor costs, and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Implement loss prevention strategies through excellent customer service.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to promote productivity.
  • Lead by example in all aspects of the role.
  • Assist the General Manager in addressing sales and operational challenges.
  • Support the General Manager in the recruitment and hiring process.
  • Take full responsibility for store operations in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Supervise retail staff when the Store Manager is unavailable.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive work environment for all employees.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of equestrian products and services is essential.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in retail management is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using personal computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate a team for optimal performance.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
