Job Overview

As an Animal Care Specialist, your primary responsibilities will involve supporting the veterinarian in conducting animal assessments and treatments to guarantee effective and prompt patient care. Key duties include:
  • Handling and restraining animals safely.
  • Assisting in surgical procedures, including preparation, anesthesia induction, and monitoring.
  • Conducting laboratory tests and operating medical apparatus.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in animal enclosures and clinical areas.

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. Additional specialized training is advantageous. Candidates must obtain euthanasia certification within six months of employment. Veterinary technician licensure or certification is preferred. A solid understanding of veterinary practices and equipment is essential. Work hours will vary throughout the week, including potential evening shifts. A resume must accompany the application.

Compensation Structure

The pay grade for this position is GG13, with a full pay range of $28.51 per hour.
