We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate students' health, providing guidance and support to students, parents, and school personnel as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records, conducting research and evaluating school health programs to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Notify relevant individuals of immediate and potential health-related problems, coordinating with school, home, community, and allied health agencies to provide comprehensive care.
  • Develop and implement individual health care plans, working closely with other providers and school personnel to ensure seamless care.
  • Provide emergency care for students on school premises, administering medications with parent/guardian and physician consent.
  • Perform site-mandated screenings, including vision, hearing, scoliosis, and TB testing, as well as other health-related activities as deemed necessary by state and city departments of public health.
  • Collaborate with health education programs to provide information on health and disease prevention, promoting healthy lifestyles and habits among students and families.
  • Participate in school health-related activities, serving as a resource for students, families, and staff on health-related matters.
  • Initiate, promote, maintain, and implement programs for the recognition, prevention, and control of disease, including immunizations as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff at PACE and schools on student health needs, making home visits as necessary.
Requirements
  • Current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
  • Three years of professional experience in school nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
  • DOE certification or certifiable in educator category, Nurse, All Levels.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.
