Principal Specialist, Health and Safety Professional

About the Role:
RTX is seeking a highly motivated and self-directed Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Professional to support our ongoing sustainability, compliance, and risk reduction efforts at our Andover, MA site.
This complex manufacturing site offers the EHS professional an opportunity to work with manufacturing and support teams to foster employee engagement, and drive risk reduction and continuous improvement of the EH&S program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazardous workplace conditions.
- Taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and health of site employees and influencing safe behaviors.
- Working with subject matter experts to assure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company EHS requirements.
- Investigating, analyzing, and interpreting data from injuries and near-misses ensuring corrective actions are completed on time, and all necessary documentation is in place.
- Interacting with employees and promoting relationships, learning the tasks employees perform and being known as a resource to the employees at the site.
- Auditing and evaluating current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements:
- Typically requires a university degree with 5 years applicable EH&S experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years applicable EH&S experience.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in laboratory safety or industrial hygiene.
- Familiarity with engineering or research and development environments.
- Emergency response experience (working with team to respond to and help troubleshoot alarms).
- Experience in managing EH&S issues in a union work environment.
- Previous experience working at an OSHA VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) site.
- Professional Certification in the EHS field (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.).
