Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the Center for Ordnance Disposal and Diving. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing common tasks including upkeep of buildings, structures, facilities, and utility systems.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret guidelines (e.g., blueprints, diagrams, sketches, technical specifications) to complete facilities maintenance and repair work (e.g., roofing, painting, woodcraft, carpentry, structural).
  • Determine tools needed to complete maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, fencing, landscaping, storm drains, roads, or other facilities.
  • Inspect utility and disposal systems to determine conformance to standards or to locate leaks and other defects.
  • Select materials to perform carpentry work to verify fit, dimensions, structural integrity, and other required objectives are met.
  • Set up electrical systems equipment by arranging the required materials (e.g., wiring, conduits, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers) to verify safe operation.
  • Use close tolerance measuring devices and tools (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters, multimeters, vacuum and acid pumps, pressure gauges, humidity recorders, micrometers, calipers, soldering equipment) to repair and test equipment.
  • Determine types of equipment (e.g., tools, parts, materials) needed for installation and repair of plumbing systems.
  • Use basic tools (e.g., impact wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, brake tools, screwdrivers) to assist in making repairs or modifications to landscaping equipment.
Requirements
