Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Classroom Assistant in our Head Start program. As a key member of our teaching team, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for our young students.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing individualized instruction, including setting up environments and activities, guiding physical activities, and reinforcing learned skills and behaviors.
  • Interact with children in a positive and effective manner, using positive behavior intervention and redirection when necessary.
  • Assist with documentation, including meals and attendance tracking, ongoing assessments, and anecdotal records.
  • Engage children during family-style mealtimes, supporting their social development and self-help skills.
  • Assist with food service, including maintaining a clean environment, receiving food, and meal preparation, following sound nutritional practices and CACFP guidelines.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in implementing all areas of CLASS (Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support).
  • Assist with and document diapering/toilet training, maintaining the hygiene and personal needs of children.
  • Ensure classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
  • Complete tasks as assigned, including daily responsibilities, activities, and schedules.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training and required meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor regarding changes in classroom activities, child's status, work schedule, supply and equipment needs, or issues or concerns.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with coursework in child development leading to a CDA preferred.
  • Preferred work experience in a childcare setting or related setting.
