Summary: The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe dedicated to providing comprehensive health services across a designated Service Delivery Area.

As a key member of the behavioral health team, the Advanced Psychiatric Care Nurse Practitioner (APN) will deliver high-quality psychiatric services to adult patients, including medication-assisted treatment for those facing opioid use challenges.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Evaluate, prescribe, and manage medications for individuals experiencing mental health disorders.
  • Provide outpatient psychiatric assessments and ongoing medication management in a clinical environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and billing information.
  • Engage with family members and guardians to discuss treatment progress when appropriate.
  • Prepare necessary reports and documentation for external agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Make informed clinical decisions based on established treatment protocols and guidelines.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance service quality and provide educational support to colleagues.
  • Deliver culturally competent care that respects the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of patients.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and professional standards while contributing to the mission of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:
This role is situated in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
  • Current and unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Active DEA registration.
  • Board certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver's license with insurability.
  • Successful completion of background checks and drug testing.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred:
  • Two years of experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • Experience working with Native American populations or organizations.
  • Familiarity with the Indian Self-Determination Act.
