Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiothoracic Surgery team in the CVCT ICU. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients on this acuity-adaptable unit, ensuring a positive commitment to meeting patient and family needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver care with a mixture of technological expertise and a commitment to patient and family needs.
  • Be an integral part of a team that provides care for patients requiring specialized care for cardiac and thoracic surgeries and procedures, heart and/or lung transplants, medical devices, and various cardiovascular medical diagnoses.
  • Meet the minimum requirements for the facility, including a permanent address outside the 50-mile radius of Madison and a valid WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state.
  • Have experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas (3 or above), completed two years of acute care experience within the last three years, and successfully completed a traveler assignment (13 weeks).
  • Hold BLS & ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association and provide two references from recent work environments/assignments (supervisor or manager only).
Work Environment:

UW Health University Hospital, Madison, WI, is a Magnet-designated facility ranked Wisconsin's #1 hospital and considered one of the nation's leading hospitals, teaching institutions, and referral centers.

Shift and Call Requirements:
  • 36 hours/week, Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts, Monday-Friday variation of 6:30am-7pm with possible 9:40am-10pm every three weeks.
  • Weekend and weekday call rotation, with a 45-minute call response time.
Requirements:
  • Must be currently active with a WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience.
  • 36 minimum guaranteed hours.
