Nurse Practitioner Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our patients, increasing access and improving outcomes for Veterans.
Responsibilities- Provide a wide range of healthcare services, including diagnosis and management of acute, chronic, and complex health problems, health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
- Work collaboratively with all levels of staff, including trainees and a multidisciplinary staff, in a fast-paced educational and collegial environment.
- Develop and implement evidence-based nursing protocols and organize educational activities targeted toward staff training and development.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with radiation oncology symptoms and diseases.
- Collaborate with physician and chemotherapy infusion nurses to schedule and administer chemotherapy.
- Monitor and adjust patient medications and treatments according to protocols.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies related to the patient's plan of care and response to treatment.
- Provide patient education and apply accepted preventative health care measures to patients and/or their families.
- Perform certain minor surgical/therapeutic procedures, including suturing/closure of lacerations, obtaining biopsies, removal or exchange of indwelling drains or tubes, and administration of local and topical anesthesia.
- Order or prescribe devices, supplies, and durable medical equipment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Must possess a post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner from a school of professional nursing.
- Must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a NP in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Must possess and maintain full and current board certification as a NP in Adult Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Primary Care.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs.
