CNC Machinist

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Advance Services, Inc. in Spencer, IA. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and setting up various machine tools to produce precision parts.
Key Responsibilities:- Set up and operate numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications.
- Review setup sheets and specifications to determine setup procedures, machining sequences, and dimensions of finished work pieces.
- Attach fixtures to machine beds and position and secure work pieces in fixtures according to setup instructions.
- Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine spindles as specified.
- Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments.
- Perform accurate and timely first-part inspections and other inspections as required.
- Identify and separate nonconforming parts and notify supervisors of discrepancies.
- May adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications.
- Seal parts with rust preventative as required.
- Produce parts at a rate that meets or exceeds accepted production standards.
- Perform secondary operations and inspections, including drilling, deburring, and cleaning parts produced.
- Count finished parts and pack them neatly into containers.
- Enter required data into computers.
- May perform preventative maintenance tasks.
- Keep machines and tools clean, properly lubricated, and in good operating condition.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Three to six months of relative experience and/or training preferred.
- Able to apply common sense understanding to basic work processes.
- Capable of carrying out detailed written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Can deal with problems involving several concrete job-specific variables.
- Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides all units of measure.
- Performs the four mathematical operations with like, common, and decimal fractions.
- Computes ratio, proportion, and percentage.
- Calculates surfaces, volumes, weights, and measures.
- Basic algebra skills, including calculating variables and formulas.
- Basic geometry skills, including calculating plane and solid figures.
- Demonstrates ability to understand computer codes.
- Demonstrates ability to read and interpret prints.
- Demonstrates ability to take measurements and verify conformance to prints.
- Mechanical aptitude, including a basic understanding of various types of tools used in the machining process.
- Communicates in English, including speaking, understanding, and writing reports.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate orally in a clear and positive manner.
- Demonstrates ability to generate and maintain accurate and concise written records.
- Can read and comprehend safety rules, equipment manuals, job sheets, and blueprint notations.
- Can distinguish equipment-generated sounds.
- Can simultaneously monitor more than one machine.
- Ability to analyze a problem and identify the root cause.
