Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services and/or Staff Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of tasks to support the pharmacy team. This includes billing for pharmaceuticals, receiving and stocking department supplies, preparing medications for in-patients and outpatients, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
Responsibilities- Oversees pharmaceutical inventory using the PYXIS system and assists with processing patient charges and preparation of medications for dispensing.
- Prepares compounds and dispenses medications, and sterile compounds upon physician's orders.
- Maintains accurate control substance inventory and selects correct medications and quantities.
- Represents and bar codes medications as necessary.
- Assists in maintaining appropriate stock levels and supplies reorder information to the Pharmacy Buyer.
- Pharmacy Intern certification
- Potential exposure to abusive and/or aggressive people
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking
