Job Summary

The Peer Specialist is a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, responsible for providing recovery rehabilitation and support functions to assist in treatment. This role involves providing job readiness training, education, support, and consultation to families, as well as assisting consumers with goal setting and achievement. The Peer Specialist will also facilitate consumer connection with community supports and agencies, while providing crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of staff with a professional degree.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Be a member of the team for an assigned number of consumers.
  • Consult with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
  • Document client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures.
  • Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings.
  • Participate in providing treatment and substance use services.
  • Participate in comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis; physical health and dental health; use of drugs and alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living; and family structure and relationships.
  • Comply with regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with others and accept constructive criticism from supervisors and managers.
  • Abide by the company's published rules and regulations.
Education and Experience
  • Education: High school degree or GED.
  • Experience: Experience working with adults who have severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Driving Requirements:
    • Must be over the age of 21.
    • Minimum of 5 years of driving experience.
    • Possess a valid FL driver's license (within 30 days of hire if currently do not possess).
    • Possess a continuously valid US driver's license for the past three years, from date of issue.
    • Safe driving record.
Training and Development

Complete all requirements according to the Individual Training Plan within the first six months of hire and annually.
