STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Overview of Job Classification:
This role involves delivering professional verbatim reporting and transcription services for court sessions, hearings, and conferences. Individuals in this position have not yet achieved their Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification from the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA).
Salary considerations will be based on the online application, and candidates are encouraged to provide all pertinent information. This position requires in-person attendance during standard business hours, with a designated break for lunch.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To excel in this role, an individual must effectively perform the essential functions outlined below. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill these functions. The frequency and percentage of time may vary based on specific assignments.
- Produces an accurate verbatim record of court proceedings through stenographic reporting and transcription. Reviews, formats, and proofreads transcripts while providing real-time translation for judges. Maintains organized files and records/logs of notes, utilizing them to fulfill transcript requests.
- Prepares cost estimates for transcript requests, manages billing and invoicing for transcript costs, and keeps an accurate log of all transcript requests.
- Generates required reports and documentation in accordance with relevant directives and local policies.
- Communicates effectively with court personnel regarding proceedings and interacts with attorneys and clients requesting transcripts.
- Maintains and troubleshoots reporting equipment, seeking technical support as necessary.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not involve the supervision or direction of others.
COLLABORATION:
This role necessitates regular interaction involving the exchange of information, with limited impact on others.

Employees typically execute assignments following general instructions regarding methods, procedures, and desired outcomes. There is some discretion in making selections among identifiable choices, with assignments reviewed upon completion. The impact of actions is moderate.

This role requires comprehensive, practical knowledge of work processes. The incumbent can complete a wide range of tasks, including complex ones, with minimal reference to others. The likely impact on the organization is standard.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Equivalency:
An Associate's degree or two years of college education.
OR
Relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education.
Work-Related Experience:
Less than one year of related experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
None required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work - Involves exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Good - Generally free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
WORK LOCATION:
Office or similar indoor environment.
EXPOSURES:
Potential interactions with individuals who may be hostile or irate, including those with known violent backgrounds.
