Job Summary:
The Family Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality patient care with a focus on the family unit, encompassing health promotion, disease prevention, direct care, and counseling across the lifespan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides clinical care to patients, including laboratory testing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries.
- Writes and dispenses prescriptions and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment.
- Conducts primary care and physical examinations, including Pap tests.
- Counsels patients and helps them understand their limitations and abilities.
- Coordinates health promotional activities, such as providing printed information, routine testing, flu shots, and mammograms.
- Manages overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues.
- Meets with new staff to orient them regarding services, identify needs, and suggest local physicians and services.
- Conducts laboratory tests and provides follow-up care as needed.
- Makes referrals to other medical services and specialists as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of and adherence to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Minimum of 6 years of RN experience related to family health.
- Recent experience in the use of Electronic Medical Record documentation.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required.
- Valid California Registered Nursing License.
- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of California.
- Current DEA and BLS certifications.
