Orthodontic Assistant

The Orthodontic Assistant will provide critical support to orthodontists during dental procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients. Key responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and taking X-rays as needed. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist orthodontists during treatment procedures, including bonding and removing orthodontic brackets.
• Take beginning records, including study models, panorex, and digital photographs.
• Perform tasks such as ligature and wire removal, size and fit orthodontic bands, and take impressions.
• Prepare patients for treatment and take dental radiographs as needed.
• Develop and implement infection control protocols, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of orthodontic experience preferred
• Certification in dental assisting preferred
• X-ray certification a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Work Environment:

The Orthodontic Assistant will primarily work in a dental office setting, interacting with patients, orthodontists, and other dental staff. They may also be exposed to radiation from X-ray machines, so adherence to safety protocols is essential.
