Job Overview

Resource Informatics Group Inc is seeking a highly skilled Senior Teradata Developer to enhance our Data Experience (dX) Team. This position focuses on collaborating with various departments to document both business and technical metadata, which includes business definitions, data management, and data lineage. The role is integral to the Data Governance framework and will be actively involved in the systems development lifecycle within dX. This position demands a blend of analytical and technical expertise, with a pace that is both challenging and achievable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with data governance teams, data stewards, and subject matter experts to develop and maintain a comprehensive business glossary and data lineage.
  • Assess existing data dictionaries for redundancies, gaps, and quality issues to ensure accurate business descriptions are available for the analytics team.
  • Conduct analysis of current data lineage and document/process model new end-to-end data lineage for data solutions using tools such as Informatica Metadata Manager or MS Office.
  • Implement data classification and tagging of business metadata in alignment with the Metadata Management policy to enhance the utilization and validation of trusted enterprise sources.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with large data formats and file structures.
  • Understanding of databases, including big data technologies.
  • Knowledge of programming and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Expertise in metadata tagging, data classification, and defining both business and technical metadata.
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts to business stakeholders in relatable terms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient data analysis capabilities.
  • Organized and methodical approach to tasks.
  • Analytical mindset with robust problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management abilities.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in interpreting data models, data dictionaries, and queries.
  • Capability to write moderately complex SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Hadoop, Teradata (BTEQs), Tableau, Informatica, and Collibra is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Advanced SQL, MS Office, UNIX, and data lineage and flow diagramming.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, along with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and skills. The ability to analyze complex data, business processes, and information flow needs is essential.
