Cardiac Operating Room Registered Nurse

Sentara Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Operating Room (OR) team.
We offer a competitive sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, along with relocation support.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Experience in an operating room setting (General or Cardiac)
- 1-2 years of ICU experience, or
- 2 years of experience in cardiac specialty nursing.
This is a full-time position with rotating shifts.
On-call duties and weekend call once a month are required. Candidates must reside within a reasonable distance from the facility for on-call purposes.
About Sentara Healthcare: We are proud to be one of Virginia's premier healthcare institutions, recognized for our excellence in cardiac care. Our facility is a Level 1 trauma center and features a nationally ranked heart program.
Department Insights: The Cardiac Operating Room consists of five operating rooms, including a hybrid OR, managing over eight cases daily. Our nursing team collaborates with a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including surgeons, surgical techs, and anesthesiologists.
Role Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment and medications are available.
- Review patient charts and assess patients upon admission.
- Position patients in the OR and administer medications while monitoring vital signs during procedures.
- Document all relevant information and provide a comprehensive report to the ICU nursing staff post-surgery.
- Prepare the OR for subsequent cases.
Educational Requirements: Candidates must possess a diploma, associate, bachelor's, or master's degree in nursing. All Direct Care RNs are required to obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire and ACLS certification within one year.
