Fish Biologist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Fish Biologist II to join our team at the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the implementation of multiple on-reservation watershed projects, assisting with the development and implementation of resource management policy, and coordinating with Yakama Nation programs and non-tribal agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation and submittal of funding proposals to federal, state, and private organizations.
- Develop contracts with funding agencies and manage multiple project accounts.
- Direct restoration, monitoring, and research activities within project boundaries and assist with other YN projects.
- Ensure that project activities are consistent with tribal and federal policies and regulations.
- Develop management agreements with funding and regulatory agencies.
- Provide policy assistance to tribal, state, and federal funding, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate and oversee management activities performed on-reservation by non-tribal agencies.
- Provide technical assistance to BIA tribal leadership and DNR staff.
- Conduct research on relevant natural resource management issues.
- Present research and monitoring findings in professional forums.
- Develop and conduct educational seminars for public schools, agencies, conservation organizations, and agricultural producers.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Fisheries Science, or related field.
- Two years experience as a Fish Biologist I.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Master of Science degree in Fisheries Science or related field may substitute for up to two years of experience.
- Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
