Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant in Training at Northeastern Rural Health Clinics. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Training and Duties:
    • Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers in delivering direct patient care, including preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, and recording patient history.
    • Phlebotomy: Receive training in phlebotomy techniques, including drawing blood, handling specimens, and preparing them for laboratory testing.
    • Injections: Learn to administer injections under supervision, following protocols and safety standards.
    • Wound Care: Assist in basic wound care procedures, including dressing changes and infection control practices.
    • Patient Communication: Develop skills to communicate effectively with patients, providing them with information and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Administrative Training and Duties:
    • EHR Management: Learn to accurately document patient information, clinical findings, and care provided in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
    • Appointment Scheduling: Assist with scheduling patient appointments, including follow-ups and referrals to specialists.
    • Phone Communication: Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to providers as needed.
    • Billing and Coding: Gain exposure to basic billing and coding processes to support accurate and timely reimbursement for services provided.
    • Supply Management: Learn to monitor and restock medical supplies in exam rooms and clinical areas.
  • Training Commitment:
    • Certification Preparation: The training program is designed to prepare the trainee for certification by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA) and potentially national certification.
    • 2-Year Work Commitment: A minimum of a 2-year work commitment at Northeastern Rural Health Clinics is required following the successful completion of the training and certification process.
  • Professional Development:
    • Ongoing Learning: Participate in ongoing training sessions, workshops, and continuing education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare providers, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.
    Qualifications
    • Education:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Interest in pursuing a career in medical assisting and obtaining certification.
    • Skills and Attributes:
      • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Attention to detail and commitment to providing compassionate patient care.
      • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
    • Commitment:
      • Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 2 years of full-time work at Northeastern Rural Health Clinics following the completion of the training and certification program.
