Our San Francisco office is seeking a Lead Plumbing Engineer to enhance our multi-disciplinary buildings engineering team. In this pivotal role, we are looking for a professional who can oversee multidisciplinary projects, ensure the delivery of superior quality work, cultivate robust client relationships, and actively mentor and develop our engineering staff. This individual will also provide internal leadership within our Plumbing division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide the plumbing team, fostering a culture of quality, trust, and transparency.
  • Lead plumbing engineering design on projects, fulfilling responsible charge duties.
  • Provide multi-disciplinary leadership for project teams, collaborating with clients to represent all firm disciplines.
  • Deliver high-quality engineering outcomes to meet internal project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain exceptional client relationships.
  • Supervise staff across various projects, including healthcare, rail, aviation, commercial, and industrial sectors, with a focus on decarbonization initiatives.
  • Participate in client-facing and OAC (Owner, Architect, Contractor) meetings.
  • Engage in local professional associations, including ASPE.
  • Contribute to project pursuits, including reviewing and preparing proposals or scoping documents.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and inclusivity.
  • Coach and support the skill development of team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in designing building plumbing systems.
  • Professional US Engineering License or equivalent US Certified accreditation in plumbing discipline.
  • Experience leading project teams on medium to large-scale initiatives.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and organize work within a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D BIM/CAD software such as AutoCAD MEP or Revit MEP, with a solid understanding of the BIM process from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
  • Familiarity with clash detection, multi-disciplinary planning, and quality assessment of models using tools like Navisworks or BIM 360.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for collaborative work.
  • Effective presentation skills for diverse audiences.
