Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in a variety of settings, including complex assessments and interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Planning
    • Obtain comprehensive data from patients, families, and other healthcare providers to develop a holistic picture of patient needs or conditions.
    • Analyze and synthesize data to determine diagnoses or conditions relevant to care.
    • Identify optimal outcomes for patients in collaboration with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Care Delivery
    • Develop and implement plans that prescribe strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes, using clinical judgment in collaboration with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
    • Implement plans, employing strategies to promote and maintain a safe environment, and coordinate implementation with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Evaluation and Quality Improvement
    • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
    • Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluate their own practice, and maintain current knowledge and competence.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice, collaborate with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
    • Use clinical inquiry and integrate best evidence into practice.
  • Professional Development
    • Apply the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to critical care nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient's age-specific needs and clinical needs.
    • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Education and Experience
    • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
    • No experience required.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
    • Constant standing and walking.
    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
    • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
    • Occasional driving.
    • Rare crawling and running.
    Requirements
    • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
    • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
