Lead Surgical Technologist Job Description

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Surgical Technologist to join our team of caregivers. As a key member of our Operating Room team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest level of quality and safety in our surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and direct the activities of assigned Surgical Technologists in the OR
  • Perform duties of a Surgical Technologist as needed
  • Provide patient care in the OR by performing in a scrub role
  • Assist in the circulating role as needed
  • Collaborate with SPD to maintain instruments and specialty trays
  • Provide performance documentation
  • Assume department leadership in the absence of the supervisor
  • Review surgical schedules and service line shift reports daily to ensure resources are available for surgical procedures
  • Seek ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain workflow and improve service
  • Perform and oversee precepting
Requirements:
  • Certified Surgical Technologist
  • Completion of a surgical technology program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Internal caregivers: one year of experience in a Surgical Technologist role
  • External future caregivers: two years of experience in a Surgical Technologist role
