About the Role:

The Machinist Intern at Mate Precision Technologies will perform general maintenance on various machines and learn to operate manual and CNC machines within their department. They will also learn to inspect the products they are running using various measuring devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation: Set up and run various machines, ensuring efficient production and quality output.
  • Inspection and Quality Control: Inspect work using gaging and inspection devices to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform basic machine maintenance duties, including oiling and greasing, emptying waste wire and chips, cleaning tanks, etc.
  • Productivity and Quality: Meet expectations for productivity and quality, and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with others, be open-minded, responsive, and supportive of others' efforts to succeed.
  • Integrity and Accountability: Demonstrate integrity by being dependable, having good judgment, being honest, and taking responsibility for their actions.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current enrollment in a CNC Technology program at a post-secondary technical college is required.
  • A good attitude and self-motivation is required.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills are required.
  • A willingness to learn new machining skills is required.
  • Good mathematical skills are required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Occasional bending and stooping.
  • Use of hand to finger.
  • Lift, move, and pull up to 35 pounds.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • The noise level is moderate.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting Pay: $23/hour, plus an additional $1/hour shift differential.
