We're seeking a skilled Scratch Baker to join our team at New Pioneer Food Co-op, a food co-operative owned by over 30,000 members in Iowa. As a Scratch Baker, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality hearth breads and baked goods using our trusted ingredients and recipes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with our prepared foods team to produce and bake our famous hearth breads and baked goods in our commercial bakery and kitchen.
  • Prepare foods using commercial bakery and kitchen equipment, including large batch mixers, stoves, ovens, and proofers.
  • Consistently project a friendly, open, and service-oriented demeanor to customers and team members.
  • Lift and carry 15-50 pounds of product on a regular basis.
Requirements:
  • At least 6 months of food service experience, with institutional or commercial bakery experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
  • Food and sanitation training and certification (ServSafe or similar).
  • Familiarity with organic and natural foods.
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic math problems associated with recipes.

  • A 90-day learning period with pay increases at 1,040 and 2,080 hours worked.
