Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver on-site psychiatric care and consultation services for individuals with developmental disabilities, utilizing telehealth when suitable.
- Assess patients and provide psychiatric treatment recommendations.
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations based on direct observations, interactions, and reports from various sources.
- Identify and evaluate the presence of DSM recognized disorders such as delusional disorders, character disorders, and obsessive disorders.
- Ensure that evaluations and assessments are precise, concise, and comprehensive.
- Collaborate with medical professionals and interdisciplinary teams to formulate treatment plans and manage cases effectively.
- Document all patient encounters, evaluations, consultations, and assessments in the clinical record.
- Input clinically relevant findings and treatment recommendations into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Issue electronic prescriptions for psychotropic medications when the primary care physician is unavailable.
- Provide crisis intervention and monitor the effects of prescribed psychotropic medications.
- Maintain detailed psychiatric progress notes, including medication adjustments and adverse reactions.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of formulary determinations, prior authorizations, and coverage authorizations as requested by the clinic.
- Facilitate patient admissions to psychiatric inpatient units when necessary.
- Review potential patient transfers from the New York State Office of Mental Health.
- Conduct in-service training programs for staff and participate in required training sessions, ensuring compliance with clinic documentation standards.
