Principal Systems Maintenance Engineer

The role involves delivering exceptional customer support through on-site installations, as well as managing the diagnosis, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair of intricate equipment and systems. The engineer will evaluate and ensure the operational quality of system equipment.
The successful candidate will possess the capability to guide customers in the effective operation and upkeep of their systems. Acting as the company's representative, the engineer will address both administrative and technical concerns for designated projects. This position encompasses various aspects of field support, including system hardware and software, personal computers, and networking solutions. Mentorship of junior staff may be required, along with other responsibilities assigned by management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee customer contracts by conducting preventative maintenance visits, documenting and delivering reports, and providing on-site remedial assistance.
- Ensure that customer systems are updated with the latest software, quick fixes, and hardware enhancements.
- Develop upgrade strategies for customer systems.
- Conduct field Beta testing in the region and provide necessary feedback.
- Adhere to all technical protocols and tools for Global Service.
- Perform technical evaluations of client orders and any proposals as requested.
- Assess technical risks associated with expansion projects and upgrades.
- Identify product and procedural deficiencies impacting customer satisfaction and propose solutions.
- Deliver technical support to meet the company's quality and customer satisfaction objectives.
- Participate in technical training covering systems and instruments, application processes, communication, and safety.
- Provide requested data for reports to assist management in making informed decisions regarding customer satisfaction, sales, marketing, engineering, quality control, support, and employee satisfaction.
- Support sales initiatives as directed by the Regional Service Manager to secure orders and service agreements.
- Understand and uphold Schneider Electric Process Automation contractual obligations on major projects, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Manage overall technical responsibilities for multiple projects, including specifications, functionality, testing, and commissioning.
- Conduct system testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and develop test documentation.
- Prepare documentation and obtain customer approval according to specifications and timelines.
- Coordinate with the factory to resolve product-related issues.
- Respond promptly to technical inquiries from customers in the field.
- Refer customer requests to company specialists as necessary.
- Assist sales personnel in addressing customer feedback.
- Attend bid review meetings as required by sales and management.
- Oversee site startup and commissioning of systems.
- Collaborate effectively within a team, taking on both leadership and supportive roles.
- Work with the Global Support Center (GCS) team as needed.
- A recognized degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or Process Control is preferred. Military experience is also acceptable.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Triconex and Foxboro IA, Modicon, and Wonderware systems.
- Familiarity with HMI software, PLCs, DCS systems, and field instrumentation.
- Knowledge of products and services within the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Chemical industry, and Turbo Machinery.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and logical reasoning skills, with sound judgment, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and possessing strong leadership capabilities.
- Innovative and dynamic, with effective communication skills, particularly in multicultural settings.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows Operating Systems, Unix, DCS, Safety Systems, PLCs, communication protocols, networking, and system security.
