Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dimensional Engineer to join our team at Tesla, responsible for enhancing the dimensional appearance and craftsmanship of our vehicles. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review dimensional integration tasks, including functional requirement analysis, assembly requirement analysis, and reviewing CAE studies.
  • Lead and strategize continuous improvement initiatives, prioritizing projects aimed at resolving complex issues related to dimensional appearance and overall quality.
  • Conduct comprehensive dimensional variation analysis and root cause investigations to identify and predict sources of assembly issues and appearance deviations.
  • Implement long-term corrective actions to eliminate future issues and optimize processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including BIW Dimensional Engineering, Quality, Production, and other departments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
  • 5+ years of assembly manufacturing experience.
  • Strong dimensional engineering skills and a good understanding of process design, process validation, assembly methods, and design reviews.
  • Proficient in statistics to identify critical process parameters (Cpk, Cpk, and other six sigma metrics).
  • Experience in fixture design and GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with all levels of an organization.
