Job Summary:

As a Mental Health Program Psychotherapist at Advocate Health, you will play a vital role in providing specialty behavioral and psychotherapy services to families and children with a focus on children with comorbid developmental and behavioral/mental health issues and diagnoses. Your expertise will be essential in developing and implementing individualized and group services, with treatment goals based on diagnostic evaluations, prognosis, and case histories. You will work closely with patients, families, physicians, teachers, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments based on parent reports and observations to inform evidence-based decision making for treatment goals.
  • Develop measurable short-term and long-term goals that reflect patient and family potential and interests.
  • Determine the most effective modalities for therapy, including ABA techniques, structured teaching, cognitive behavioral, parent-child focused, and supportive psychotherapy.
  • Provide behavioral and psychotherapeutic treatment services tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Engage parents in the therapeutic process through training and workshops, promoting a collaborative approach to care.
  • Modify treatment plans as needed to ensure patient progress and attainment of goals.
  • Ensure seamless transitions and follow-up care through effective case management and communication with healthcare providers.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement, quality assurance, and safety programs to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Clinical, Counseling, Education, or Behavior Analysis.
  • 1 year of experience in providing therapy in behavioral health with children/adolescents, preferably including those with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in behavioral health, including children/adolescents with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

This role requires frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. without assistance and occasional lifting of over 25 lbs. with assistance. You may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluid hazards. You must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, and reach above shoulders and twist. You will be required to restrain and control patients who are physically combative. You will operate all necessary equipment to perform the job.
