Software Development Engineer

Job Description:
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer with exposure to AWS tools and services to help architect cutting-edge test infrastructure. Our team is responsible for core infrastructure and tools that will serve as the backbone for automated satellite testing operations to enable rapid scaling of manufacturing processes.
- Understand functional principles of Kuiper satellite hardware, software, and all backend services that enable the operation of our constellation.
- Provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, and implementation of test solutions for integrated satellite hardware and software in an ambiguous and complex problem space.
- Build software solutions to manage infrastructure needed to operate our system in development and production environments.
- Build software solutions to manage infrastructure needed to operate our system at large scale.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to define and implement system architectures for integrated test venues.
- Lead technical roadmap definition efforts and decide what features and performance improvements to build.
- Design and develop complex test commanding sequences that coordinate and synchronize equipment and services across multiple layers to verify function and performance of satellite hardware and software.
- Instill best practices for software development documentation, making sure designs meet requirements, delivering high-quality software on tight schedules.
- Automate build, test, and deploy pipelines.
Requirements:
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
