Veterinarian Position

The Relief Veterinarian is a critical role at Banfield Pet Hospital, responsible for providing high-quality care to pets. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering preventative care, diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries, and ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and associates.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain relevant information and history from clients, and maintain accurate and complete medical records.
- Provide education to clients on preventative care, pet health needs, and any diagnosis or treatment.
- Effectively communicate diagnosis and treatment plans to the veterinary medical team and clients.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, including proper maintenance of controlled substance inventory logs.
- Understand and follow state guidelines regarding duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians.
- Quickly and accurately shift attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.
- Develop and maintain strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking fluent English.
- Perform all basic surgeries, including use of standard medical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure hospital teams confidently present pet treatment recommendations and associated fees as an advocate for the pet.
- Utilize computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Effectively enforce policies and utilize a coaching/counseling philosophy for performance management.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
- License in good standing with the applicable state veterinary board.
- Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
