We are a leading provider of plasma-based therapies, and we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team at our Plasma Center in Colonial Heights, VA.
Job SummaryThe Medical Support Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors, while also providing exceptional customer service and support to our team members.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Center Manager and under the supervision of the Center Physician for medical issues.
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the execution of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Manage donor deferral, review test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results per applicable SOPs.
- Initiate and investigate Post Donation Information (PDI), refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when needed, and demonstrate continued competency in the performance of job responsibilities.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties will be assigned: Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification required
- Fulfillment of state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Able to satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred
