EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, in accordance with applicable state codes; extended employment terms may be established by the Board of Education.

SALARY: In accordance with state salary schedules, commensurate with experience and educational qualifications.

EVALUATION: Performance in this role will be assessed by the building principal and in accordance with state educational policies.

JOB SUMMARY: Deliver effective instruction to middle school students and ensure that they achieve the established learning objectives and standards for their grade level.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Required certification: Middle School, grades 6-8 minimum; Senior High, grades 9-12 minimum; Elementary certification for Sixth Grade.
  • Accountable for implementing adopted and supplementary academic programs.
  • Responsible for integrating 21st Century technology skills into the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to plan and implement inclusive educational strategies.
  • May organize and oversee co-curricular activities and programs such as educational fairs, recognition events, and field trips.
  • Ensure accountability for individual student progress.
  • Design and implement personalized learning experiences for all students.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Willingness to engage in additional programs designated by the principal for school enhancement.
  • Maintain effective classroom management.
  • Perform supervisory and other duties as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid teaching certificate for the relevant specializations and grade levels; successful completion of a criminal background check as required by state law; meet the qualifications outlined in state education codes.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision for reading handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. The role requires the individual to manage multiple demands from various stakeholders and interact with the public and other staff members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role. Typically, the educational setting is indoors, with outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities. The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderate, with exceptions in gymnasiums and vocational/technical laboratories where noise levels may be moderate to loud.
