The Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled RN First Assistant to join our Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. As a key member of our team, you will assist our surgeons in various cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, including coronary anastomosis, vein harvesting, and suturing.
Responsibilities- Assist surgeons and senior residents in thoracic and cardiovascular surgical procedures
- Perform various duties during surgical procedures, such as coronary anastomosis, implantation of prosthetic valves, and resection of aneurysms
- Function as the surgical scheduling officer for the Department
- Review preoperative patient data with each staff surgeon
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current state licensure
- Certification as a Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) and completion of the Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) course
- Preferred: Certified as RN First Assistant (CRNFA) or a Master of Science Nursing Degree
This role requires the ability to work in a stressful environment and requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Physical RequirementsThis role requires manual dexterity to operate office equipment and may require extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
Personal Protective EquipmentFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
